Interactive Theatre International is a professional theatre company founded in 1997.
The company produces and promotes high quality interactive, site-specific and immersive comedy theatre that is performed around the world. It has operational offices and performers in both hemispheres, mostly based in London, England and Brisbane, Australia.
Interactive Theatre International (initially Interactive Theatre Australia) was born from the desire of one individual to find herself performance work.
It started with Faulty Towers The Dining Experience…
After moving to Brisbane from her native New Zealand, and armed with her 'Fawlty Towers tribute show’ idea, Alison Pollard started the search for appropriate performers, met Andy Foreman, and in 1997 the Australian production of Faulty Towers The Dining Experience was born.
While the show still features some of Ali's original comedy gags, it has developed hugely from those early days, especially to take into account the many overseas territories and cast members it now includes. Meanwhile, Alison Pollard – now Alison Pollard-Mansergh – continues as Executive Producer and Artistic Director.
The list of countries in which Faulty Towers The Dining Experience has appeared is long: each year now it appears in 20+ countries. To give you an idea, we’ve performed in:
Antigua, Bahrain, Belgium, Barbados, Canada
Cyprus, Denmark, Eire, England
Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland
Kenya, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines
Saudi Arabia, Scotland (inc. Edinburgh Fringe), Singapore, South Africa
Sri Lanka, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, Wales
… and, of course, Australia, including regularly sold-out seasons at
Fringe World Perth, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe.
Over the years, various other productions have been ‘staged’ under the ITI umbrella. In 2016-17, the company's main shows are Faulty Towers The Dining Experience and The Wedding Reception.
New productions are also in hand, particularly in association with Imagination Workshop, so sign up for the newsletter to receive updates.
The journey continues!
Ali founded ITI in 1997 and remains its driving force. Starting out, she gained a teaching degree plus qualifications in Drama, Dance, Music and Voice. She went on to teach these subjects at many levels, including remedial, and then moved into the hospitality industry; she even owned her own restaurant. Having performed in mainhouse musicals, comedies and dramas, she set up ITI with the express intent of creating high quality, interactive comedy shows. Right up until 2015, Ali also played the role of Sybil Faulty in ITI’s Faulty Towers The Dining Experience, touring the show around the world.
Geri started out in blue-chip PR consultancy focusing on business development, arts and sports sponsorships, and corporate social responsibility programmes. She set up for herself and worked around the world before returning to the UK, working at Edinburgh and other festivals with a variety of clients in music, circus, theatre and comedy. She began working with ITI in 2008 and leads the company’s PR & marketing team, ensuring continued quality control and extension into new markets.

Beth graduated from London's Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts with a Masters in Musical Theatre. She has worked in various customer service roles within retail establishments, but having dedicated the last eight years to the arts, she is thrilled to have been able to marry the two together: she joined the company in early 2016 as a customer service representative, and has now been promoted to manage the customer service, box office and front of house team. In her private time, she enjoys going to the theatre, socialising and cooking.
Charlotte joined the company in early 2017 as a Front of House assistant in the London residencies; when the full-time customer services role became available she jumped at the chance. Charlotte first developed her enthusiasm for theatre in volunteering for You Me Bum Bum Train’s immersive theatre production as a Scene Leader. Thriving under the unique fast-paced environment that immersive theatre brings, she found her passion. Charlotte has a degree in Multimedia Computing from LSBU and in her spare time she enjoys socialising, reading UX blogs, and volunteering in theatre projects – the more immersive the better.
