Interactive Theatre International ®

What we do

Interactive Theatre International is a professional theatre company founded in 1997.

The company produces and promotes high quality interactive, site-specific and immersive comedy theatre that is performed around the world. It has operational offices and performers in both hemispheres, mostly based in London, England and Brisbane, Australia.

The company past - and present

Interactive Theatre International (initially Interactive Theatre Australia) was born from the desire of one individual to find herself performance work.

It started with Faulty Towers The Dining Experience

After moving to Brisbane from her native New Zealand, and armed with her 'Fawlty Towers tribute show’ idea, Alison Pollard started the search for appropriate performers, met Andy Foreman, and in 1997 the Australian production of Faulty Towers The Dining Experience was born.

While the show still features some of Ali's original comedy gags, it has developed hugely from those early days, especially to take into account the many overseas territories and cast members it now includes. Meanwhile, Alison Pollard – now Alison Pollard-Mansergh – continues as Executive Producer and Artistic Director.

The list of countries in which Faulty Towers The Dining Experience has appeared is long: each year now it appears in 20+ countries. To give you an idea, we’ve performed in:

Antigua, Bahrain, Belgium, Barbados, Canada
Cyprus, Denmark, Eire, England
Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland
Kenya, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines
Saudi Arabia, Scotland (inc. Edinburgh Fringe), Singapore, South Africa
Sri Lanka, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, Wales

… and, of course, Australia, including regularly sold-out seasons at
Fringe World Perth, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe.

Over the years, various other productions have been ‘staged’ under the ITI umbrella. In 2016-17, the company's main shows are Faulty Towers The Dining Experience and The Wedding Reception.

New productions are also in hand, particularly in association with Imagination Workshop, so sign up for the newsletter to receive updates.

The journey continues!

Who's who in the company

Ali founded ITI in 1997 and remains its driving force. Starting out, she gained a teaching degree plus qualifications in Drama, Dance, Music and Voice. She went on to teach these subjects at many levels, including remedial, and then moved into the hospitality industry; she even owned her own restaurant. Having performed in mainhouse musicals, comedies and dramas, she set up ITI with the express intent of creating high quality, interactive comedy shows. Right up until 2015, Ali also played the role of Sybil Faulty in ITI’s Faulty Towers The Dining Experience, touring the show around the world.

Geri started out in blue-chip PR consultancy focusing on business development, arts and sports sponsorships, and corporate social responsibility programmes. She set up for herself and worked around the world before returning to the UK, working at Edinburgh and other festivals with a variety of clients in music, circus, theatre and comedy. She began working with ITI in 2008 and leads the company’s PR & marketing team, ensuring continued quality control and extension into new markets.

Andrea joined ITI in 2013 with over 20 years’ experience in corporate accounting, much of it in the fast-moving world of printing. Qualified as a Bachelor of Business – Major Accounting, Andrea also brings long-term analytical thinking. She is well-placed to plan and manage our financial activities around the world.

Caitlin is a long-time theatre enthusiast. Over the years, she’s been involved in diverse theatre projects in tremendously varying roles including stage manager, writer, director, co-ordinator, and performer. In mid-2013 she graduated from Queensland’s Griffith University with a degree in Applied and Contemporary Theatre. As a ukulele, sitcom and all-round life fanatic, Caitlin does everything with huge amounts of enthusiasm – including her work with ITI; she joined us in 2014.

Donna started her career as a professional dancer after graduation from London Studio Centre in 1988, and in 2011 completed an MA in Acting at Drama Centre (University of the Arts, London). Donna has been playing Sybil since 2012, travelling all over Europe and Scandanavia, Barbados, Kenya and Singapore, also appearing in London's Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House. Donna joined the sales team in 2016 as a natural progression in the company and job shares with 'sister Sybil' Suzanna Hughes.

Suzanna Hughes is an actress and voiceover artist from North London who graduated from drama school in 2003 and has since done a huge amount of TV and theatre work. Joining the company in 2012 as Sybil Faulty, Suzanna has performed the role all over the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the Edinburgh Fringe, and the London West End residency. The company's new show 'The Wedding Reception' proved an ideal opportunity for Suzanna's comedic and vocal talents. Suzanna joined the sales team in 2016 as a natural progression in the company and job shares with 'sister Sybil' Donna Gray.

Marketing team

Beckie graduated from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Arts Management, and has worked within arts marketing throughout her entire career. She is a member rep for the Arts Marketing Association and most recently held the position of Director of Marketing and Development at The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury for 5 years before joining ITI. Beckie believes that the best theatre creates unique experiences between those on stage and those in the audience. She specialises in marketing to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to experience those moments.

Karin joined ITI from a teaching background. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) plus CELTA qualifications for teaching English to speakers of other languages. She also holds qualifications and experience in business administration. She is passionate about photography and image manipulation, and especially enjoys the creative side of her work, helping ITI and its clients in creating, for example, promotional materials.

Hailing from Liverpool in the North of England, Niger has been immersed in theatre ever since his first Edinburgh Fringe back in 2009. It was at this first Fringe he came across Faulty Towers The Dining Experience; he says that working with ITI was 'only inevitable!'. As well as theatre, Niger enjoys writing and reading American novels and taking long bus rides around France.

Coming with a love for film and a background in animation, Jamie joins from the Arts Marketing Association where he was involved with all things creative. He now brings his creativity and recently acquired marketing skills to all ITI shows. Jamie is a keen photographer, a motorsports lover and an avid runner.

Customer services team

Liv has a degree in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Leeds and clearly has a love of fun and drama: she grew up as a water rat with youth theatre group, The Watermill Theatre, and after graduating worked at Secret Cinema. She joined ITI in 2013 as a production assistant and now manages the company’s London West End residencies. She spends her spare time watching theatre and exploring London, camera in hand.

Beth graduated from London's Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts with a Masters in Musical Theatre. She has worked in various customer service roles within retail establishments, but having dedicated the last seven years to the arts, she is thrilled to have been able to marry the two together: she joined the company in early 2016. In her private time, she enjoys going to the theatre, socialising and cooking.

Originally from Norfolk, Heather has moved to London to start her acting career. Heather has been performing since she was 7 years old and has recently finished studying Musical Theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Heather joined ITI in 2016 and enjoys working with and learning from actors currently in the industry.

Josh holds a BA in Drama from Queen Mary, University of London, and loves to make funny and silly fringe theatre of his own - which is why he loves working for ITI. Film-making in his spare time, he does a lot of volunteering outside of his work-life, and generally enjoys making people smile in whatever way he can.

Sam is training to be an actor at the Arts Educational School London. He loves sports and socialising as well as performing, and sees working Front of House at ITI as good experience in 'the back end' of theatre.
