Interactive Theatre International ®

What we do

Interactive Theatre International is a professional theatre company founded in 1997.

The company produces and promotes high quality interactive, site-specific and immersive comedy theatre that is performed around the world. It has operational offices and performers in both hemispheres, mostly based in London, England and Brisbane, Australia.

The company past - and present

Interactive Theatre International (initially Interactive Theatre Australia) was born from the desire of one individual to find herself performance work.

It started with Faulty Towers The Dining Experience

After moving to Brisbane from her native New Zealand, and armed with her 'Fawlty Towers tribute show’ idea, Alison Pollard started the search for appropriate performers, met Andy Foreman, and in 1997 the Australian production of Faulty Towers The Dining Experience was born.

While the show still features some of Ali's original comedy gags, it has developed hugely from those early days, especially to take into account the many overseas territories and cast members it now includes. Meanwhile, Alison Pollard – now Alison Pollard-Mansergh – continues as Executive Producer and Artistic Director.

The list of countries in which Faulty Towers The Dining Experience has appeared is long: each year now it appears in 20+ countries. To give you an idea, we’ve performed in:

Antigua, Bahrain, Belgium, Barbados, Canada, Cyprus,
Denmark, Eire, England, Finland, Gibraltar, Hong Kong,
Iceland, India, Jersey, Kenya, Luxembourg, Malaysia,
Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland,
Norway, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines, Portugal,
Saudi Arabia, Scotland (inc. Edinburgh Fringe), Singapore,
South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland,
Thailand, The Channel Islands, United Arab Emirates, Wales

… and, of course, Australia, including regularly sold-out seasons at
Fringe World Perth, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe.

Over the years, various other productions have been ‘staged’ under the ITI umbrella. In 2018-2019, the company’s main shows are Faulty Towers The Original Dining Experience and Confetti & Chaos (formerly The Wedding Reception).

New productions include Pamela’s Palace, Signor Baffo’s Restaurant, Only Fools The (cushty) Dining Experience – and more. To keep up-to-date with developments, sign up for our newsletter

Who's who in the company

Ali co-founded ITI in 1997 and remains its driving force. Starting out, she gained a teaching degree plus qualifications in drama, dance, music and voice. She went on to teach these subjects at many levels, including remedial. Having performed in mainhouse musicals, comedies and dramas, she set up ITI with the express intent of creating high quality, interactive comedy shows. Right up until 2015, Ali also played the role of Sybil Faulty in Faulty Towers The Original Dining Experience, touring the show around the world. As ITI Artistic Director, Ali is responsible for the group’s creative output, quality and vision.

Jared is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. He trained in performance, business management and French, and worked as a professional musician alongside some of Australia’s top music and theatre artists. Jared brought his unique set of skills to ITI upon relocating to London in 2017 – and as Ali’s son is excited to be working in a business he literally grew up with. He has worked in all administrative areas of the company, and brings a performer’s mindset to the administration team. Jared is now responsible for the company’s business development, and for company operations, marketing and festivals.

Peter has 38 years’ experience in general management and sales accounting in business: running his own businesses, in businesses owned by others, and in large corporations across various industries including freight and passenger transport, real estate, tropical plant rental and boat building. This background is unusual for the entertainment industry, and we embrace him as the yin to our yang. Peter heads up our accounts and sales department and keeps a keen weather eye on processes and procedures. Peter’s core business beliefs are customer service and satisfaction, and he also believes that customers and suppliers should be treated as part of the organisation as this builds trust and strong business relationships. Peter has been helping with the success of the group since conception.

Andrea joined ITI in 2013 with over 20 years’ experience in corporate accounting, much of it in the fast-moving world of printing. Qualified as a Bachelor of Business – Major Accounting, Andrea also brings long-term analytical thinking. She is well-placed to plan and manage ITI’s financial activities around the world.

In 2016, Suzanna started working with the sales team too and from 2018 has shared with Kat Mary Gilham responsibility for producing ITI’s ‘by popular demand’ series of shows.

Kat trained at the Guildford School of Acting, graduating in 2004. She set up her own theatre company that same year and went on to produce and perform in comedy and immersive shows in the UK and internationally, including her own solo show, Mata Hari – Female Spy. She also performs as a puppeteer, in high-profile TV shows and ads, on Facebook Live, and in Crystal Maze as a Maze Master. For ITI, Kat appears as Sybil in Faulty Towers The Original Dining Experience, and as Raquel/Cassandra in Only Fools The (cushty) Dining Experience. Along with Suzanna Hughes, she also co-produces ITI’s ‘by popular demand’ series of shows.

She is also interested in history and current affairs, enjoys reading and going to the cinema.

Charlotte has a degree in Multimedia Computing from LSBU. She joined the company in early 2017 as a Front of House assistant in the London residencies, and when the full-time customer services role became available she jumped at the chance. Charlotte first developed her enthusiasm for theatre in volunteering for You Me Bum Bum Train’s immersive theatre production as a Scene Leader. Thriving under the unique fast-paced environment that immersive theatre brings, she found her passion. In her spare time she enjoys reading UX blogs, and volunteering in theatre projects – the more immersive the better.
