Originally from the UK, Amanda and her husband moved to Melbourne in February 2009, and are so far loving it!
After graduating with a Theatre Studies degree from the University of Wales, Amanda completed her training at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London. She is also a qualified school teacher.
Within the UK she has worked for Channel 4 television, BBC radio 4 as well as many independent theatre companies.
Since arriving in Australia she has enjoyed playing the role of Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, a 3 month east coast tour of Steaming alongside popular television actress, Val Lehman, fantastic roles in several short films and an Irish mother in Australia on Trial: Mount Rennie, for the ABC.
Amanda plays Sybil Faulty in Interactive Theatre International's 'Faulty Towers the Dining Experience'. Personal reviews:
" Each time we heard that ear-piercing “Bas-il” from ‘Mrs Faulty’, Basil’s pain was clearly felt! McKay's portrayal of Sybil Faulty was spot on. The walk, look, smile and voice were all a hoot." Fringe Review - Adelaide Fringe Festival ***** |
